Adobe Brothers
The Adobe Brothers band was formed in 1978 and played for free meals and tips once a week or so at the notorious Country Barbecue in Corrales, New Mexico. But this was just the beginning! Over the last 30 years, the group has played many club venues, the New Mexico State Fair, contra dances and country dances throughout the Southwest, numerous festivals including the Albuquerque Folk Festival, the Wildlife West Bluegrass Festival, the Santa Fe Bluegrass and Traditional Music Festival, the Silver City Pickamania, the Hillsboro Fiesta, other festivals in several states, wedding celebrations, and many other events.
In 2009, the band released their first complete studio CD, The Adobe Brothers (catchy title, eh?). Their second album, Our Name is Mud, is in the rehearsal stage; recording should begin at the end of summer.
The band members got their start playing old-time string band music but has subsequently evolved to include bluegrass, western swing, Celtic songs and tunes, Mexican and Latin American folk music, world music, band member compositions, and basically whatever other music suited them. The Brothers refer to this eclectic mix of styles as International Bluegrass and pride themselves on having one of the largest and most diverse repertories of any band in the region. One of the band’s rules is to play any song or tune any member introduces to the band. It provides the group with a variety of music that is sure to please.
